For more than 500 years artisans in Peru have been in the saddle-making business, providing to horsemen the well known El Caballo De Paseo saddles. Nowadays artisans are taking this well established art form and reinventing the outcome to include excepitionally well hand-crafted leather frames.
Each of these hand-made frames began as a hide, each hide tells the story of it's previous owner. All of the accessories or ornaments such as buttons, stitching, hand tooling, etc are planned to show the authencity of the leather. Each hide is carefuly chosen for the right quality and gage (thickness) that will allow the proper tooling and finish. Every piece is hand made by expert craftsmen to whom the knowledge and techniques of their craft has been passed from one generation to the next.
