"'Golden Gate' is the 1st image in my Highway 1 Series of serigraphs celebrating the majestic California Coast. My intention with this series is to create images of the places that hold special meaning to me. Of course, the Golden Gate bridge is among the most iconic structures in the world and certainly there is no lack of imagery of the bridge, but I, like so many others, am always awe-struck by the sight of it. I've crossed or seen the bridge hundreds, maybe thousands of times and never once have I been able to 'ignore' its presence. I've driven, walked, and cycled across it; I've flown over it; I've been in a boat underneath it... and every single time I marvel at it's size, it's construction, it's location. I am amazed by the weather it endures and the workers who climb over every inch of it to keep it maintained, and so it seemed like the proper place to start this series. 'Golden Gate' is a 7 color print and required over 2,000 hand-pulled color impressions to complete." ~Jake
