Jake Early Menu

"Malibu," is the fourteenth piece in my Highway 1 Series of original, hand-printed serigraphs. I'm not the first to create an image of Malibu, and at first, I was hesitant to do so. Malibu is already world-famous, it's extremely crowded, conspicuously wealthy and totally over-exposed, however, there is a reason for all of that Malibu is "take your breath away" gorgeous. If you're able to look through all the people, and above all the fancy houses and between all the cars, it truly is a marvelous stretch of California's coast. I was at the north end of Malibu trying to avoid the crowds when my gaze drifted skyward, and that is when I saw this stand of California Fan Palms swaying in the breeze. The California Fan Palm is the only palm tree native to California, and in that moment, this image was burned into my memory. I would love to go back in time to see Malibu 100 years ago. Nevertheless, this is the Malibu I choose to visit. This is a six color, hand printed serigraph. ~ Jake
