“The Lost Coast” the 13th piece in my Highway 1 Series of original, hand-printed serigraphs. I had hoped to create this piece much earlier in the series, but was never able to get it to “feel” right, until now. Most of the time I’ve spent along this section of California’s coast has been on foot or on a mountain bike and every time I leave, the feeling of the area seems to stick with me - it feels big, rugged, green, wet, cold and lonely, but it’s also friendly and pristine and even a bit mysterious. Above all, it’s the air that I can never forget - so crisp and pure with just the right amount of moisture and salt and that rich, earthy scent. It’s truly a magical place. This print is an 11 color image that required almost 3,000 hand pulled impressions to complete. ~ Jake
