"'Place' is a primary theme throughout all of my work - and Monterey Cypress trees say 'place' unlike any other. These incredible trees, some as old as 2,000 years, formed by the wind, are confined to just this small area of the California coast. Monterey always seems to have vivid colors too- turquoise water, white sandy beaches, grey fog, light blues, violets, deep blue water, and countless shades of green. I hoped to capture some of those elements in this image that define the area around Monterey. '17 Mile Drive' is a 9 color print and required over 2,200 hand-pulled color impressions to complete." ~Jake
