Much of the year Upper Park can be harsh and brown, covered with rocks, thistle and poison oak. But for a few weeks each spring, Upper Park feels less rugged - almost soft, when the grasses are tall and green with a carpet of wildflowers covering it all. As the days get longer and warmer, the grasses grow deeper and greener. Even the smells are different, sometimes rich and earthy, other times fragrant. Few things are as pleasant as wandering (or pedalling) over the miles of trails criss-crossing the area. ~ Jake
