"Mavericks," the eighth installment of my Highway 1 Series of serigraphs. This piece is a seven-color print and required over 2,000 hand-pulled color impressions to complete. Mavericks is the name of a specific wave at the north end of Half Moon Bay (about 25 miles south of San Francisco). It is among the largest waves on the planet, routinely crested as 25 feet and in certain conditions exceeds 50 feet. It breaks nearly a half-mile off shore and even when it's merely 20 feet, it is a massive thundering wave and literally shakes the ground you're standing on. Mavericks is truly a sight to behold, and on the days it approaches 50 feet, it is both amazing and terrifying to witness. ~ Jake
