My work is about the interaction of process and materials over time. I play with translucency and opacity combining layers of paint, acrylic mediums and exotic papers . Often bits and pieces of things are incorporated: fabric, sticks, pieces of metal, foil, wire. Some elements are carefully and deliberately created, others are the "happy accidents" of process but all come together in a unified whole. My goal is to draw the viewer in, to create an object that is at the same time both beautiful and intriguing. |
